Angelica Rose Lockyer
Angelica is a gender-queer Aboriginal performer from the Pilbara and a 2021 graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), where their credits included Gloria and Julius Caesar.
They made their professional theatre debut in The Return, directed by Matthew Lutton and Jason Tamiru for Malthouse Theatre, and later joined the ensemble development of The Confessions for RISING in Melbourne, directed by British theatre director and playwright Alexander Zeldin.
Their other theatre credits include Panawathi Girl and Lingo Lah Lah with Yirra Yaakin Theatre, Fruit Box Theatre’s Back to Birdy, and development work on Sex. Riot. Repeat. Angelica also played the lead role in the online series Yokai before relocating to Sydney.
In 2023, Angelica was a co-recipient of the Green Room Award for Outstanding Ensemble for The Return at Malthouse Theatre.
As a member of Throughline Film Foundation’s Board, Angelica brings the perspective of a working performer and a commitment to the representation and preservation of culturally significant stories through the arts.
